The Unified Police Union (SUP) has urged this Monday that patrols from the Ceuta staff not be withdrawn to support the security device of the single command and that the sanitary conditions of the accommodations for the agents deployed due to the crisis resulting from the massive entry of migrants be improved.
According to the SUP, two "zeta indicators" from the Ceuta police station are being assigned to static protection services at the Parador and the Hotel Ulises, in order to guarantee the security of the institutional device of the single command led by Minister Ángel Víctor Torres and officials from the Secretary of State for Security.
"From the SUP, we do not question the protective measures that may be technically established for any authority; what we question is that this additional coverage is carried out by detracting from an already strained staff," the organization indicated in a statement.
Disinfection, cleaning, and sanitary improvements
At the same time, the SUP has evaluated the response from the General Directorate of the Police "ten days later" after the union requested to reinforce health surveillance in the facilities where the police managing the crisis opened after the entry of 72,000 people from Morocco on July 30 are housed.
"Ten days later, the General Directorate of the Police has communicated certain actions, including the request for disinfection of facilities, cleaning of vehicles, reinforcement of uniform cleaning, hiring of laundry services, and seeking alternative accommodations," the union has pointed out.
The SUP has requested that additional measures be adopted and that a detailed report be prepared on the situation in which the agents deployed to Ceuta find themselves.
Furthermore, it has criticized that the General Directorate, dependent on the Ministry of the Interior, has responded that the spaces used are not under its ownership, as the union believes that this does not absolve it of its responsibility for cleanliness and sanitary conditions.
"We demand an immediate review of the distribution of personnel, that the extraordinary services of institutional protection be covered with additional resources and not by detracting police from the Ceuta staff, and a complete response to the preventive measures requested for the deployed officials," the SUP has concluded.
