The second vice president of the Government and leader of Sumar, Yolanda Díaz, has avoided confirming if she will once again lead a candidacy in the next general elections and has postponed any decision until later.

Díaz has insisted that at this moment her priority is management from the Executive and completing the pending measures of the legislature, without entering into future electoral scenarios.

The Galician leader thus maintains the mystery about her role in the next appointment with the polls, at a time when the political space to the left of the PSOE remains immersed in internal debates about leadership, alliances, and strategy.

The future of Sumar, open

The lack of a closed response fuels doubts about how Sumar will reach the next general election and who will pilot an eventual unitary candidacy.

Since her irruption into national politics, Yolanda Díaz has been the main reference of the project, although the wear and tear of the legislature and tensions with other forces of the progressive bloc have eroded part of that initial momentum.

In parallel, the political space also observes the movements of Podemos and the possibility of future recompositions.

Priority: exhaust the legislature

Díaz has stated that the current focus should be on the Government's work, especially on social and labor matters, and not on premature electoral debates.

With that position, the vice president seeks to gain time and avoid opening a premature internal discussion about candidacies, while the national political calendar remains open.
