The deputy Fernando Enseñat will be in charge of presenting the position of the Popular Parliamentary Group in the next Plenary Session of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, in which the report of the investigation committee on the purchase of health material during the pandemic will be submitted for debate.

The Popular Parliamentary Group underlines in a statement that the UCO report from November already provided new indications of "improper behavior" by a president of the Canary Islands --Ángel Víctor Torres--, as well as his proximity to the network linked to José Luis Ábalos, Koldo García and Víctor de Aldama, recently sentenced to 23, 19 and 4 years in prison.

According to the Popular Party, the "corrupt scheme" received more than 17 million euros from the 'Pacto de las Flores' Executive, to which are added another four million that disappeared in the operation to purchase masks that were never delivered and were paid to the company RR7 United.

In that same plenary session, the Popular Parliamentary Group will question the president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, about the measures and lines of action that are being promoted to deal with the surcharges borne by households and businesses in the non-capital islands.

"Living in El Hierro and in the rest of the non-capital islands cannot become a penalty," states the Popular deputy for El Hierro, Juanma Casañas.

From his point of view, "no one should pay more for bread, milk, basic products, or materials needed for work just because they were born, live, or want to continue living on a more remote island."

Furthermore, the also president of the Popular Parliamentary Group emphasizes that "double insularity is not an excuse, it is a daily reality that is noticeable in every bill and every purchase."

The Popular group will also bring two proposals to the debate: one, at the initiative of Mónica Muñoz, to request the granting of the Gold Medal of the Canary Islands to Pepe Dámaso, in recognition of a career of more than seven decades as a key figure in Canarian contemporary art; and another, promoted by Rebeca Paniagua, to demand that the central government fully deflate the state Personal Income Tax in order to contain the loss of purchasing power of the archipelago's families.

The package of popular initiatives is completed with matters relating to the implementation of the Senior Training programs of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the possible request for support from the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council regarding the deterioration of the murals by Jesús Arencibia in the hermitage of Santa Catalina del Pueblo Canario, and the evaluation of the development of climate shelters promoted by the Department of Ecological Transition.
