Compromís has presented in Les Corts a package of 116 partial amendments to the accompanying law of the Generalitat's budgets for 2026, which are added to its total amendment with which it demanded to return the text to the Consell. In this set of changes, the coalition proposes to reinforce public services with 200 million euros, "end the privileges of Carlos Mazón," former president of the Generalitat and current regional deputy for the PP, and cut the number of high-ranking officials of the Consell by 25%.

"Our amendments have a very clear objective: fewer privileges for the PP's cronies and more rights for Valencians. That is why we propose to reduce by 25% the high-ranking officials of the Generalitat who have turned Pérez Llorca's Consell into the most expensive government in history. We want politics to work for the people and not the other way around," states the Compromís spokesperson, Joan Baldoví, in a statement.

The Valencianist party insists again on modifying the law of 'expresidents' in order to "end their privileges and save resources for citizens": "We want to eliminate the lifelong advisors, the official car, and Mazón's luxury apartment and all the privileges of the 'expresidents' that cost all citizens close to one million euros a year. Now we will have to see what Vox votes, which talks a lot about defending savings in politics, but always ends up protecting Mazón."

Likewise, Compromís proposes changes in the Consell's fiscal policy, which in its opinion "rewards large fortunes" through tax reductions such as the wealth tax. "Instead of giving away 200 million euros to large fortunes as the PP is doing, we want that money to be allocated to the improvement of public education, healthcare, emergency services, and the rest of public services," Baldoví explained.

In parallel, the coalition proposes to reverse the cuts introduced a year ago by PP and Vox in the LGTBI laws. Among the measures included in its battery of amendments is the "total and absolute" prohibition of any conversion pseudotherapy aimed at LGTBI people.

In the housing sector, Compromís once again defends the permanent protection of protected housing and the adoption of mechanisms to prevent them from being "distributed among friends and leaders of the PP as has happened in Alicante," referring to the Les Naus de la Playa de San Juan development, whose awards are being investigated by a court. To this end, it proposes that the homes be awarded by lottery among those who meet the requirements.

Another block of amendments focuses on the À Punt law, with the intention that Valencian regain its role as the vehicular language of the regional public radio and television.

Amendments to Education Budgets

On the other hand, representatives of Compromís met this Thursday with the Plataforma per l'Ensenyament Públic to detail their proposals for the 2026 budgets of the Ministry of Education. Their proposals involve redistributing 350 million euros with the aim of reinforcing the demands of the educational community and raising the quality of Valencian public education.

"The PP has presented shameful budgets for the educational community. We have the obligation to place Valencian education at adequate quality standards, achieving an additional investment of 800 million euros annually in the coming years to improve teacher conditions and recover investment in infrastructure," states the coalition's spokesperson for Education, Gerard Fullana.

The party also demands that the minister Carmen Ortí appear before Les Corts to explain the TSJCV ruling which states that the PP illegally removed 15 works from the Edificant plan, and denounces that "she has not spoken about her educational policy in Les Corts since May." It considers that this judicial ruling questions the strategy of withdrawing Edificant and demands that a control session be held in July to ask her if she intends to relaunch the program.

Among Compromís's educational amendments is a salary improvement plan for teachers endowed with 140 million euros, which would mean an "immediate" increase of 230 euros per month, with retroactive effects from January 1st, and a commitment to negotiate with unions for a progressive equalization to reach 400 euros per month in the next regional budgets.

"The councilor has been unable to reach an agreement with the educational community after 32 days of strike. While the teaching staff sacrificed a month's salary to demand that their claims be heard, the PP government responded with budgets that consolidate the cuts, and demonstrate that public education is not among its priorities," denounces the deputy, alluding to the currently suspended teaching strike.

Other proposals include recovering the level of investment in educational infrastructure, increasing the allocations by 180 million to return to the volume that Edificant had in 2023; launching an air conditioning and maintenance plan for the centers through a coordinated action platform between administrations, in which the Generalitat contributes 70 million annually and the provincial councils and city councils complete the figure up to one hundred million, and expanding the infrastructure that ensures the dining service in the institutes.

Finally, the coalition proposes to allocate 60.4 million to strengthen staff and improve the working conditions of educational personnel. It advocates for recovering the 2023 staffing agreement to reduce ratios, increase the number of professionals in Vocational Training, Official Language Schools, conservatories, and artistic education, and advance in improving the labor situation of special education educators.
