The general secretary of the PSOE in Castilla y León and former mayor of Soria, Carlos Martínez, has reiterated that his party assumes "the responsibility" of the Government of Alfonso Fernández Mañueco in the debate on regional financing, defending an "alternative" proposal against the "silence" of the regional Executive.
During his intervention before the media at the summer courses of the Complutense University, in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, the socialist leader has criticized the PP for its attitude in this area, considering that "It does nothing but ignore the problems of our community."
Martínez has explained that the PSOE proposed to the popular party to agree on a common position for Castilla y León ahead of the Council of Fiscal and Financial Policy (CPFF), scheduled for next July 29, but emphasized that the PP's response has been limited to "the insult" and "the aggression."
In this context, the former mayor of Soria has defended that his party has decided to assume the "responsibility" that, in his opinion, the regional Executive has evaded, and for this reason has put on the table "an alternative proposal in the face of their silence." He refers to the technical contacts that the socialist group maintains with the Ministry of Finance regarding the draft of the new regional financing system, a document that he has again labeled as "unjust and insufficient."
As he has detailed, the model he defends is structured around "financing equality" in all territories, beyond a mere discussion on regional financing. Furthermore, he has emphasized that these conversations are taking place parallel to the institutional and official channel, because, he insisted, the Mañueco Government has let go of "the wheel" and intends to "permanently crash while acting as the opposition to the Government of Spain."
