The situation of the wildfires changes this Friday compared to the previous day. The fire in Pinofranqueado, in the Cáceres region of Las Hurdes, remains active, but shows a favorable evolution that has allowed for the beginning of the relaxation of some of the measures adopted during the emergency. The device continues to work over a wide perimeter, although the Extremaduran authorities have confirmed an improvement in the evolution of the fire.
The main new focus is located between Segorbe and Gátova, in the area of the Sierra Calderona, where a wildfire declared after a lightning strike keeps ground and aerial resources mobilized. The Generalitat activated situation 1 of the Special Plan against the Risk of Wildfires and keeps the CV-25 road closed in the Altura area.
Pinofranqueado improves and allows for the relaxation of safety measures
The fire in Pinofranqueado, in Las Hurdes, remains active, but its evolution is more favorable than during the previous days. The fire had already affected thousands of hectares and forced the activation of level 2 of the INFOEX Plan, in addition to causing the evacuation of several hamlets and the confinement of Nuñomoral.
The improvement of meteorological conditions and the work of the operational team have allowed for the progressive relaxation of some restrictions. During the afternoon of Thursday, the return of residents from Robledo, Castillo, and Avellanar was authorized, while the confinement of Nuñomoral was also lifted, although certain limitations were maintained to facilitate firefighting efforts and ensure safety.
Despite this evolution, the fire still requires monitoring. The wind continues to be one of the main risk factors, and the teams maintain special attention on the sectors where reactivations could occur.
A fire caused by lightning activates the emergency between Segorbe and Gátova
The main news of the early morning is found in the Comunitat Valenciana. A wildfire declared between Segorbe, in Castellón, and Gátova, in Valencia, affects an area of difficult access near the Natural Park of the Sierra Calderona.
The fire occurred in a context of intense electrical activity, with thousands of lightning strikes recorded during the storm episode. The emergency led to activating situation 1 of the Special Plan against the Risk of Forest Fires and to deploying forest firefighting units, provincial consortium resources, and aerial means incorporated with the arrival of day.
The CV-25 road remains closed in the municipality of Altura while the operation continues. The evolution over the next few hours will largely depend on the weather conditions and the behavior of the fire in a forest area with complex access.
Las Peñas de Riglos remains stabilized
The fire of Las Peñas de Riglos, in Huesca, has left behind the most serious phase of the emergency and remains stabilized after ten days of work. The affected perimeter reaches about 18,400 hectares, with an estimated burned area of around 14,500 hectares.
The favorable evolution has allowed the progressive return of the evacuated population. The last planned relocations include the neighbors of Santa Cruz de la Serós, while the device maintains surveillance and consolidation tasks and access restrictions remain in effect in various affected areas.
The fire continues to be monitored and has not yet been declared extinguished. The forecast communicated by the operation managers is to advance towards its control if the favorable evolution of the coming days is maintained.
Aldea del Fresno maintains a favorable evolution
The fire declared this week in Aldea del Fresno, in the Sierra Oeste of Madrid is also continuing to improve. The fire remains stabilized after affecting about 330 hectares and the evolution has allowed for lowering the emergency level, lifting the confinements, and authorizing the return of evacuated people.
The teams continue working on refreshing and finishing the perimeter, with the aim of eliminating hot spots that could cause a resurgence. The situation has notably reduced the emergency level compared to the first hours of the fire.
Niebla is now controlled after almost two weeks of emergency
The fire in Niebla, between the provinces of Huelva and Sevilla, has been declared controlled after nearly two weeks of work. The fire had been one of the major fires of this month and forced the deployment of a wide emergency device before the favorable evolution allowed first its stabilization and now the control of the perimeter.
The fire no longer concentrates the emergency of previous days, but it remains pending the final surveillance phase until it can be declared extinguished. Its transition to the control situation marks one of the main changes compared to the days when, along with Riglos, it concentrated a good part of the firefighting resources mobilized in Spain.
