The discovery this Tuesday in Alicante of a corpse that, according to police sources cited by El País and Cadena SER, allegedly corresponds to the businessman Jesús Tavira, has returned public attention to a name that had been linked for years to another of the great unsolved cases in the Valencian Community: the murder of María del Carmen Martínez, widow of the former president of the CAM Vicente Sala.

According to El País, the body was located in a home in El Bacarot, Alicante, buried in an old well or cistern covered with concrete. The newspaper indicated that definitive identification was pending forensic confirmation.

The news has had a special impact because the disappeared businessman was not an unknown name to the judicial chronicle: his figure had appeared linked as a witness in the case known as the CAM widow case.

According to El País, the dwelling where the body appeared is linked to one of the businessman's employees, and three arrests would have been made in the investigation. The Cadena SER also reported on those arrests and that the discovery occurred after investigations carried out by the National Police regarding the disappearance of Tavira, who had not been heard from since March 18.

The repercussion of the finding is also linked to the role that Tavira had in the case of María del Carmen Martínez, murdered in 2016. Tavira was considered a relevant witness in that case due to the communications he maintained with Miguel López, the victim's son-in-law, who was later acquitted.
