The City Council of A Coruña, through the Consortium of Tourism and Congresses, has initiated the bidding process to put five new national air connections into service from Alvedro airport.
According to the municipal government, this action is part of a strategy "aimed at strengthening the external projection of A Coruña, improving its connectivity, and consolidating its role as a tourist, economic, and congress destination."
The terms of the new bidding include direct links with Málaga, Valencia, Bilbao, Sevilla, and Alicante, "considered strategic due to their tourist, business, and social potential," emphasizes the city council.
The contract will have an initial period of three years, extendable for one more year through an extension, and will have a budget allocation of over 6.5 million euros. Along with the operation of the flights, a specific promotion plan for the city in the markets targeted by these routes is also included.
At the same time, the Consortium of Tourism is finalizing the preparation of a new differentiated competition for international routes, with the aim of increasing A Coruña's connectivity with the main European markets considered a priority.
