AirAsia X Berhad has successfully completed its name change process to AirAsia Group Berhad, after receiving the approval of its shareholders at the 19th Annual General Meeting held on June 25 and the official registration of the new name by the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM), effective July 2.

As detailed by the company in a statement, this modification is not limited to a mere brand update, but rather responds to its objective of evolving into a "more solid" and "integrated" airline group, with the goal of consolidating itself as the leading low-cost network airline worldwide.

"With a larger fleet, a wider route network, and stronger connectivity, we are poised to seize new growth opportunities and generate greater value for our shareholders, stakeholders, and passengers," emphasized the company's Independent Non-Executive Chairman, Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim.

In this regard, and always guided by "the entrepreneurial spirit of AirAsia" and supported by "solid" corporate governance and disciplined execution, the company reaffirms its confidence in its ability to "continue facilitating access to air travel, drive sustainable long-term growth, and build a world-class airline group for the future."

Recently, the airline finalized the purchase of 150 state-of-the-art A220-300 aircraft from Airbus, an order that became the largest placed for this model by May. These aircraft will operate routes within the ASEAN region and Central Asia, freeing up higher-capacity aircraft to focus on longer-distance routes.
