CSIF has demanded this Wednesday that the Government provide clear guarantees about the future of Muface, after warning that the mutuality has been forced to draw on its treasury surplus to be able to cover the healthcare agreement in the absence of new General State Budgets.

After the meeting of the general council of Muface, the union explained that the entity had a surplus of 282.2 million euros at the end of 2024, but has had to use 349 million euros to cover its budget commitments and finance the healthcare agreement, which is why it considers that this financial cushion could already be in the negative.

CSIF has added that around 14,000 mutualists have left the healthcare agreement to move to public healthcare since last year. In detail, the union estimates 7,664 changes made in 2025, 4,281 recorded in January 2026, and 2,051 that occurred in June.

The union has also expressed its concern about the decline in healthcare activity in the first year of validity of the new healthcare agreement. According to its data, primary care consultations have decreased by 230,941 compared to the same period of the previous year, with a drop of 13.4% in pediatrics, while specialized care consultations have decreased by about 150,000, especially in traumatology, ophthalmology, and obstetrics and gynecology.

Furthermore, it has warned of a reduction in diagnostic activity, with declines in tests such as simple radiology, ultrasounds and Doppler, and computed axial tomography (CAT).

In light of this scenario, CSIF has demanded more transparency from the Government regarding the economic and healthcare situation of the mutuality and has warned that it will resume mobilizations if sufficient guarantees about the viability of Muface and the quality of healthcare received by mutualists are not provided.
