The Unique Social Security Number (NUSS) is the personal identifier that allows access to the services and benefits of the Social Security system in Spain. Obtaining or consulting it is a simple procedure that can be carried out through the Importass application, designed to facilitate the management of these procedures for citizens.
This number is key within the system, as it accompanies each person in their relationship with Social Security. Depending on the employment situation, it can be assigned directly by the company or requested by the citizen themselves when they need it.
What exactly is the NUSS?
The NUSS is the number that identifies each person within the Social Security system. It is necessary to work, access benefits, and carry out procedures related to contributions and services of the system.
In many cases, the company requests it when a person begins their first job, although it can also be managed directly by the citizen if they do not yet have it.
Is NUSS the same as Membership Number?
Yes. Both concepts refer to the same identifier.
The difference is that the NUSS is assigned as a personal number within the system and becomes known as the Affiliation Number when the person starts working and enters any of the Social Security schemes, such as the general or self-employed.
How to request or consult from mobile?
The Importass application allows you to consult or request the NUSS quickly, securely, and from any mobile device.
If the user already has NUSS, this appears automatically when accessing the app on the home screen, along with the option to download the accreditation document.
If you do not have it yet, the procedure is as follows: access the “Request NUSS” option, enter personal, contact, and address details, receive the assigned number on screen, and download the corresponding proof.
Is it necessary to renew it?
No. The NUSS is unique and permanent. It is maintained throughout the working life and does not require renewal.
What is Importass?
Importass is the digital space of the General Treasury of Social Security (TGSS). Its objective is to centralize and simplify administrative procedures in a single environment accessible from the web, mobile app, and Electronic Office.
It allows you to carry out procedures such as consulting or requesting the NUSS, downloading your work history, processing registrations and deregistration in domestic employment or self-employment, modifying personal data, or accessing information on contributions, working hours, and salary.
