TAP Air Portugal will resume its flights to Venezuela next Monday, July 13, and will take advantage of this first journey to carry around 8.7 tons of sanitary material destined for humanitarian aid efforts deployed after the recent earthquakes registered in the country.

As the airline has detailed in a statement, in this first phase the flights will be destined for Arturo Michelena International Airport, in Valencia, following the same operations as other Spanish companies such as Iberia or Air Europa, while the necessary work to restore normality in operations continues.

Likewise, the connections with this Venezuelan city will include a technical stopover in Pointe-à-Pitre (Guadeloupe) for operational reasons, where the crews will remain during the rotation. TAP does not contemplate that either the planes or the personnel will rest or stay overnight in Venezuelan territory.

Regarding the transport of the medical material cargo, it will be carried out in coordination with the Government of Portugal and the Ministry of Health, while the Portuguese humanitarian aid mission is under the coordination of the Camões Institute.

The Portuguese company has emphasized that it continues to closely monitor the evolution of the situation and reiterates its commitment to recover its regular operations with Venezuela as soon as possible, always guaranteeing the highest safety standards.
