The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine stated this Thursday that, for the moment, the involvement of the Ukrainian state in the explosions that damaged the Nord Stream gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea has not been proven, nor that it had issued orders or instructions for it, despite the fact that the Prosecutor's Office of Germany has indicated that the accused before the German justice "followed orders" from Kyiv.

In an official note, the Ukrainian Prosecutor's Office stated that it has analyzed the information related to the sabotage of the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines within the ongoing investigations and has carried out various investigative measures and "procedural actions".

These actions include taking witness statements and collecting data considered relevant, the Ukrainian Prosecutor's Office detailed, emphasizing that the objective is to "clarify the circumstances of the events".

"As a result of the work already carried out and the information obtained, to date no fact has been established indicating the participation of the State of Ukraine, its competent bodies or its officials in the commission of these illicit acts," the body stressed.

According to the Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine, "no evidence has been found either that said authorities have issued, on behalf of Ukraine, orders, instructions, mandates or guidelines to carry out the sabotage of the aforementioned gas pipelines".

"However, the investigation of these circumstances has not yet concluded and the collection and analysis of the necessary evidence continues," it added, after pointing out that it takes into account the information disseminated by the Federal Prosecutor's Office of Germany regarding the accusation against a suspect of Ukrainian nationality who "was an officer in the Ukrainian Army in 2022" and who, along with other attackers, acted "following orders from Ukrainian state authorities".
