The Andorra-La Seu Airport (Lleida) reached in July its highest number of movements in its history, with a total of 1,063 operations, which represents a year-on-year increase of 83%, according to a statement released this Tuesday by the Department of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition of the Generalitat.
According to the data released, 35% of the recorded flights correspond to public services, a percentage that, in the words of the Department, "reaffirms the strategic role of the infrastructure and its vocation for essential public service."
The councilor Sílvia Paneque emphasized that the new maximum of operations "demonstrates the potential" of the aerodrome and its relevance as infrastructure serving the general interest.
Paneque also highlighted that "it is a strategic facility for the Pyrenees that contributes to the connectivity of the territory, but also to the safety of people, supporting emergency services and civil protection operations."
In the same vein, the Department has insisted that the airport's activity "contributes to improving connectivity, reinforcing territorial cohesion, and supporting public services operating in the area."
