At least eight people, including a baby, have lost their lives and another 33 have been injured this Saturday in the vicinity of Denizli, in southeastern Turkey, after a bus suffered an accident and ended up catching fire as a result of the collision.
The incident was recorded in the vicinity of the Tirkaz neighborhood, on the road that connects Denizli with Aydin. The vehicle, driven by the driver Mustafa Fevzi Merdun, was part of the fleet of the company Pamukkale Tourism and was operating the route between Izmir and Antalya.
According to the Turkish public television channel TRT Haber, the injured have been evacuated in ambulances and transferred to several hospitals in the city to receive medical attention.
The emergency teams have concluded their work at the scene of the accident and the road, which had remained closed to traffic for four hours, has been reopened. The authorities are keeping the investigations open to determine precisely the causes of the accident.
