The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have reported this Tuesday the carrying out of military maneuvers in the Golan Heights scheduled for tomorrow, warning the inhabitants of the area of the presence of "intense movement" of security forces and vehicles.
In a statement disseminated on social media, the Israeli Army specified: "A military exercise will be carried out tomorrow morning in the Golan Heights. Within the framework of the exercise, intense movement of security forces and vehicles will be noted, and echoes of explosions will also be heard in the area."
The message further emphasizes that there is no reason for alarm due to a possible security incident and stresses that, "in the event of a real event," residents will receive the corresponding notification from the Israeli security forces.
The Golan Heights constitute a territory seized by Israel from Syria during the Six-Day War (1967) and the Yom Kippur War (1973). In 1981, Israel proceeded to its de facto annexation, a decision that continues to lack recognition from the international community.
