The presidential hopeful of Peru, Keiko Fujimori, has communicated that she will be absent from the country for a few days while the recount of the second round of the presidential elections continues, in which, for the moment, she maintains a minimal advantage over her opponent, Roberto Sánchez.

Fujimori is traveling to accompany one of her daughters, Kyara, to a commitment made prior to election day. "Before the election, I made a promise to Kyara: to be by her side on her first trip at the beginning of this new stage of her life. The time has come to fulfill that promise," the leader of Fuerza Popular stated on her social media.

The candidate has emphasized that it is "a strictly family trip." "I will be out of the country for only a few days. I will remain in permanent communication with the national election official command," she added.

According to the latest data released by the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), Fujimori has so far garnered 50.05% of the votes, compared to the 49.94% obtained by Sánchez, with 98.55% of the ballots from the June 7 vote already counted.
