The People's Party extends its lead over the PSOE to almost five points, according to the latest poll by 40dB. for El País and Cadena SER. The survey places the PP at 32.4% of voting intention, while the socialists drop to 27.7%, almost one point less than in the previous poll.

The difference between the two parties thus rises to 4.7 points. The data comes after a week marked by the latest judicial cases affecting the PSOE and the Government's circle, with the indictment of former president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and the entry of the UCO into the socialist headquarters in Ferraz.

Vox maintains third place, but falls again. Santiago Abascal's party drops for the third consecutive month and stands at 17.4%. Sumar, on the other hand, recovers half a point and rises to 6.2%. Podemos remains at 2.3% and Se Acabó la Fiesta, Alvise Pérez's brand, at 2.1%.

The PP extends its lead over the PSOE

The PP is placed at 32.4% of voting intention, 1.1 points more than in the previous 40dB. poll. The popular party thus consolidates its first position and increases its distance from the PSOE.

The socialists drop to 27.7%, nearly one point less than in May. The fall confirms a deterioration at a delicate moment for the party and the Government.

The 4.7-point lead between PP and PSOE reinforces the reading that the political wear and tear of recent weeks is having an impact on socialist voting intention.

The right approaches 50% of the votes

By blocs, PP and Vox together account for 49.8% of the voting intention. This is a much higher figure than that of the bloc formed by PSOE, Sumar and Podemos, which reaches 36.2%.

The gap between the two spaces is close to 14 points. This figure is one of the most relevant of the poll because it shows a wider bloc advantage than the gap between PP and PSOE separately.

The parties that supported Pedro Sánchez's investiture - Junts, ERC, EH Bildu, PNV, BNG, and Coalición Canaria - together account for 7.1% of the voting intention, a figure similar to what they obtained in the general elections of 2023.

Vox falls for the third consecutive month

Vox continues as the third force, but loses support for the third consecutive month. Santiago Abascal's party drops to 17.4%, half a point less than in the previous poll.

Despite this drop, Vox continues to be the party that grows the most compared to the general elections of 2023. Then it obtained 12.4% of the votes; now it remains five points above that result.

The poll also shows that Vox retains the ability to attract abstentionists. According to 40dB., it is the party that attracts the most voters from the 2023 abstention, with 12.1%.

Vox is no longer the favorite among young people aged 18 to 24

One of the most striking data points from the barometer is young voters. Vox is no longer the favorite party among voters aged 18 to 24, a position that the PSOE would now occupy in direct voting intention.

Abascal's party does remain the first option in the 35 to 44 age group. On the other hand, its worst results appear among those over 55, and especially among those over 65.

The PP, for its part, obtains its best data among those over 65, where it appears as the leading force in voting intention. The survey thus confirms a clear generational division among the main parties.

The PSOE loses votes and indecision increases among its voters

The PSOE retains 70.7% of its 2023 voters, but experiences defections in various directions. According to the barometer, 4.5% of those who voted socialist in the last general election would now lean towards the PP and 3.7% would opt for Sumar.

Another relevant piece of data is the increase in undecided voters and those who would now choose to vote blank or null. This group reaches 14.1%, two points more than in the previous poll.

The survey thus points to a double problem for the PSOE: direct loss of votes to other parties and growing uncertainty within its own electorate.

Sumar improves at the expense of socialist decline

Sumar recovers half a point and stands at 6.2% of voting intention. Its improvement coincides with the fall of the PSOE and with greater retention of its 2023 voters.

According to the barometer, Sumar would now retain 51.8% of those who supported it in the last general elections, 2.3 points more than in the previous poll.

Even so, the space to the left of the PSOE remains fragmented. 19% of Sumar voters in 2023 would now lean towards Podemos, while 10.4% would opt for the PSOE.

Podemos and SALF are practically tied

Podemos and Se Acabó la Fiesta appear at very similar levels. Podemos obtains 2.3% of voting intention and SALF stands at 2.1%.

The comparison is relevant because both formations compete from very different ideological spaces, but they move in a similar electoral fringe. In parliamentary terms, that level of vote can have a very unequal translation depending on the territorial distribution.

SALF also appears as a destination for a part of the 2023 Vox vote. According to the poll, Abascal's party would lose 4.4% of its previous support towards Alvise Pérez's brand.

The PP reduces defections to Vox

The PP improves not only due to the PSOE's fall, but also due to better retention of its own electorate. According to the survey, the popular party is reducing the transfer of votes to Vox.

The defection from the PP to Vox drops from 13% in the previous poll to 8.9%. This data helps explain why the PP is rising while Vox is falling for the third consecutive month.

Alberto Núñez Feijóo's party retains 81.4% of its 2023 voters, a figure that reinforces its position as the leading force and reduces the risk of losing votes on the right.
