The Kremlin has stressed this Thursday that "it is evident" that the European Union, since it began to outline its "defensive identity," has opted for a path of confrontation with Russia. Faced with this scenario, Moscow states that it is forced to prepare additional measures to guarantee its own security.
"It is evident that, as its defensive identity has developed, the European Union has embarked on a path of militarization and is dedicating itself to confrontation with Russia," spokesman Dimitri Peskov stated at a press conference, insisting that the community bloc has adopted an increasingly hostile stance towards Moscow.
"We cannot ignore this situation," warned Peskov, who attributes responsibility for this escalation to the EU. As he explained, this dynamic not only "forces us to plan additional measures" to protect its security, but also "is exacerbating the already high tensions on the European continent," according to the TASS agency.
Despite this increase in tension, Peskov has remarked that "one thing must be beyond any doubt," and that is that Russia's security and national interests "will be guaranteed," implying that the Kremlin is prepared to act accordingly.
On the other hand, the Kremlin spokesman defended that the Russian attacks carried out during the early hours of the past night on Kyiv, in which about twenty people died and almost a hundred were injured, were directed "exclusively against military or paramilitary targets," thus rejecting that they were indiscriminate bombings against the civilian population.
