United Nations has expressed this Friday its firm rejection of the attack registered during the past night against a higher education center located in the city of Starobilsk, in the occupied province of Lugansk, an incident that has left for the moment six dead. Despite the seriousness of what happened and Moscow's accusations against Kyiv, the organization has avoided commenting on the specific origin of the attack.

"We follow with concern the news about the attack carried out during the night against a university building and a student residence in the town of Starobilsk," the United Nations has expressed through one of its spokespersons, who mentions "multiple fatalities and injuries, including children."

In the same vein, the UN has insisted that it strongly condemns any offensive directed against the civilian population and its infrastructure, "regardless of where it occurs," as has been reiterated on numerous occasions by the organization's Secretary-General, António Guterres.

"Such attacks are prohibited by International Humanitarian Law and must cease immediately. We urge all parties involved to refrain from any action that could further aggravate the already dangerous situation," he said.

The Russian Government has assured that four Ukrainian drones impacted the city of Starobilsk during the night, practically razing this educational center and damaging other civilian infrastructure. President Vladimir Putin has described what happened as a "terrorist attack."

Local authorities have confirmed at least six dead and forty injured, although they have warned that the figure could increase, as about fifteen people are still trapped in the rubble of the building. At the time of the attack, there were 86 teenagers on the premises.

On the other hand, the Ukrainian Army has rejected Moscow's accusations and insisted that its operations are directed exclusively against military targets. In this regard, it has pointed out that in Starobilsk it attacked one of the headquarters of the "Rubicon" unit.
