The director of the United States intelligence services, Tulsi Gabbard, has submitted her resignation this Friday, as reported by Fox News. The decision was formalized during a meeting in the Oval Office, where she handed over her letter of resignation.

In the document, Gabbard explains that she is leaving the position for personal reasons linked to her husband's health condition, as he is ill with cancer. Her departure will be effective from June 30.

In her farewell letter, the former congresswoman declares herself "deeply grateful for the trust" received and for the opportunity to have led the Office of the Director of National Intelligence over the past year.
