The United States Army has assured this Thursday that Iran "does not control" the Strait of Hormuz and has rejected that passage through this strategic route "is only permitted" through the "designated routes" by Tehran.

"Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz," the US Army's Central Command (CENTCOM) indicated in a message on social networks, in which it further specified that "since early May" its forces have "helped successfully facilitate the transit of more than 800 merchant ships and 380 million barrels of crude oil" through said maritime corridor.

With these statements, the US military command refutes the narrative defended by the Islamic Republic, intensified in recent days, according to which passage must be coordinated with its forces until a definitive peace agreement is reached that ends the conflict opened in the Middle East by the Israeli-American offensive.

"Iranian state media claims that transit through the Strait of Hormuz is only permitted through routes designated by Iran," CENTCOM stated, explicitly denying this version.

In parallel, this same Thursday the Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran has warned that the bombings launched in recent days by the United States against the country "severely affect" the "gradual reopening" of the strait, which connects the Persian and Oman gulfs, and has also warned of the consequences of this situation on "the interests of the countries that benefit" from this maritime route.
