At least five people have lost their lives and ten others have been injured in a shooting perpetrated by an armed man in a supermarket located in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.

Zelenski has confirmed that the aggressor has been "eliminated" by the Police, without clarifying if he is included in the official death toll. The Ukrainian leader has also pointed out that the ten injured are being treated in nearby hospital centers and that four hostages that the attacker was holding inside the supermarket have been released.

The Ukrainian president has called for an agile investigation of what happened and has ordered both the Minister of the Interior and the National Police of Ukraine to offer information to the public as soon as it is verified.
