The Unified Association of Spanish Military (AUME) has filed a complaint with the Prosecutor's Office for the aggression suffered by several military personnel in Berriozar (Navarra) while watching the World Cup final, according to a statement made by the organization itself this Wednesday.

In its note, the military association details that it has conducted a "legal analysis" of what occurred and considers that the alleged aggressors may have committed a hate crime and discrimination, as it estimates that the attack would be linked to the victims' status as military personnel and their belonging to the Armed Forces. It also points to possible crimes of aggravated injuries due to the use of dangerous instruments for life or physical integrity and due to the joint intervention of more than two people.

In the complaint, AUME requests that the Prosecutor's Office urge the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of the Interior, and the Government Delegation in Navarra to implement "urgent" measures that ensure the full exercise of fundamental rights and public freedoms of military personnel stationed in Navarra and their families, and that prevent them from "having to live in fear or self-censorship" due to their professional status.
