His Majesty the King Felipe VI has conveyed a message of condolence, affection, and support to the families of the deceased in the forest fire that broke out in the Almerian town of Los Gallardos, as well as to those suffering anguish over people who are still missing.

The monarch made these remarks at the reception following the ceremony for the awarding of Royal Commissions to the 111 new lieutenants of the Air and Space Army, which took place this Friday at the General Air Academy (AGA) in San Javier (Murcia): "we know that the fire is still very active and that the effort to extinguish it is enormous and will last for some time".

During his speech, Don Felipe announced that the Royal Family has chosen not to participate in the traditional toast and the subsequent celebration reception associated with this ceremony, and expressed his recognition for the professionalism shown by the emergency teams working to extinguish the fire.

In this regard, the King specifically highlighted the actions of the 43rd Air Force Group of the Air Force, the Military Emergencies Unit (UME), and all the regional and local personnel deployed in the area affected by the fire, in the neighboring province of Almería.

On the institutional level, the Head of State expressed his gratitude to the AGA for its trajectory and daily dedication in training officers, and encouraged the new lieutenants to continue their preparation when they join their respective operational units, where they will be received "with open arms".

"Thank you for your vocation, good luck, may you continue learning every day to be the best in your service to Spain in the Air Force," Felipe VI concluded.
