Juan Carlos I has left the Pontevedra municipality of Sanxenxo this Sunday after spending five days in the town, where he has resumed one of his usual routines in Galicia: going out to sea and meeting with his closest circle.

The king emeritus left around 6:00 PM the home of his friend Pedro Campos, located in Nanín, to later travel to Peinador airport, in Vigo, from where his return was scheduled.

During his stay, Juan Carlos I took the opportunity to sail in the ría de Pontevedra and also received a visit from his daughter, the infanta Elena, a regular presence on some of his trips to Spain.

First visit of the year

It is the first trip of Juan Carlos I to Galicia so far this year. The trip initially planned for last March had to be postponed due to the international instability situation derived from the crisis in the Middle East.

Sanxenxo has consolidated in recent years as the main Spanish destination of the emeritus since his residence in Abu Dhabi, where he has remained since 2020.

A usual return

Each visit by the former head of state again generates media expectation and reopens the focus on his public figure, although his stays in Galicia usually take place in a discreet tone and are centered on private and sporting activities.

With this departure, Juan Carlos I closes a new stay in Sanxenxo and maintains the continuity of trips that have become habitual since his departure from Spain.
