The EH Bildu congressman in Congress, Oskar Matute, has pointed out that it would be "very serious" and would constitute "a very high surprise" if "everything that is being published" about former president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero were confirmed, although he has insisted on the need to await his appearance scheduled for June 17 and 18.
"We did not have that concept of Zapatero," the parliamentarian stated in an interview on 'La Noche en 24h' collected by Europa Press, conditioning his words on the information having "absolute certainty." These reflections come after it became known that the appraisal ordered by the judge has set the value of the jewelry found at the former president's home at 1.3 million euros.
However, Matute has called to "wait until the 18th" of June, the date of Zapatero's statement, with the aim of "respecting the presumption of innocence" and allowing him to "give the appropriate explanations." In this regard, he has stressed that "it doesn't matter if you lose 'clickbaits' or sell fewer newspapers."
The congressman has also warned about "the theory of the entourage": "When we hear about the theories of the entourage. If it wasn't him, maybe it was the entourage." "We tremble" because "it has meant a massive and systematic persecution and repression that has taken down many innocent people" in the Basque Country.
At the same time, he has remarked that, if Zapatero's explanations are not "credible," "then perhaps we do have to come out and say that this is not ethical and that this is not reasonable," he concluded.
