The former Secretary of Organization of the PSOE, Santos Cerdán, assured this Monday, after learning of his indictment in the so-called 'Leire Díez case', that "no blackmail was carried out, nor was anything of the sort done".

Cerdán made these statements to the media upon leaving the Tafalla court, where he appears on the 1st and 15th of each month to comply with the precautionary measures set by the Supreme Court following his release last November within the framework of the 'Koldo case'.

The socialist leader arrived at the judicial premises early in the morning and, when questioned by journalists about whether PSOE resources were used for alleged blackmail and bribery, reiterated that "no blackmail was carried out, nor was anything of the sort done, thank you very much". He then got into the vehicle waiting for him at the door, occupying the passenger seat, and left the area surrounded by cameras and reporters.

The previous week, UCO (Civil Guard Central Operative Unit) officers searched Santos Cerdán's home in the Navarrese town of Milagro as part of the proceedings in the 'Leire Díez case', a case being handled by the National High Court judge Santiago Pedraz.

After several hours of operation, the Civil Guard agents left the politician's home with various documents seized. On the same day, the UCO also entered the federal headquarters of the PSOE, located on Ferraz street in Madrid, as well as a property related to the former vice-president of the Junta de Andalucía, Gaspar Zarrías.
