Vox will again bring to the Senate Plenary this Wednesday a debate on the outlawing of EH Bildu, understanding that the actions of the Basque coalition "violate democratic principles, human rights and seriously and repeatedly support terrorism," and will submit the issue to a vote with the aim of the PP's absolute majority taking a clear position.

The proposal, a non-binding motion to which Europa Press has had access, also proposes to promote legal changes that ensure the full compliance of sentences for terrorism offenses, strengthen the prohibition of acts of glorification of ETA, and allow progress in the investigation of the band's unsolved crimes.

The party of Santiago Abascal recalls that the Organic Law of Political Parties contemplates the possibility of promoting "the disqualification of formations that support or justify terrorist violence" and highlights that both the Senate and the Congress of Deputies are empowered to initiate this procedure before the Supreme Court.

Along the same lines, Vox demands that the Government promote regulatory reforms to prevent the "flexibilization" of the prison regime for those convicted of terrorism, including the review of article 100 of the Penitentiary Regulations.

The motion also expresses its support for the initiatives of the different administrations aimed at "preserving the memory of the victims of terrorism and repairing the damages suffered by their families and by surviving victims".

EH Bildu's Ties to ETA, according to Vox

In the explanatory memorandum, Abascal's party maintains that EH Bildu "cannot be dissociated from ETA's trajectory" and emphasizes the presence on its electoral lists of individuals convicted of crimes linked to the terrorist organization, citing the coalition's general coordinator, Arnaldo Otegi, convicted of belonging to ETA and for "glorification" of terrorism.

Vox maintains that the parliamentary support of EH Bildu to the current Government has implied "political concessions" that, in its opinion, "affect national unity and the rights of victims of terrorism".

Therefore, the parliamentary group insists on the "need" to rigorously apply current regulations to remove from institutions those groups that, as stated in the text, "maintain ties with the environment of ETA".
