A 44-year-old woman has died this Wednesday after allegedly being murdered by her partner in a shopping center in Murcia, in a crime that the National Police is investigating as a possible case of gender violence. The alleged perpetrator has fled and is still being sought by the agents.
The events occurred around 5:25 PM, when a call to the Emergency Coordination Center 112 alerted to the discovery of an unconscious woman in the back room of a store in the Carrefour Infante shopping center.
The victim showed signs of violent death
It was a worker at the establishment who found the woman's body and immediately alerted emergency services upon noticing signs that it was a violent death.
Police National forces and an ambulance from the health service were dispatched to the scene. However, the medical team could only certify the victim's death.
Initial investigations suggest that the woman may have been stabbed allegedly by her partner, who left the scene after the attack.
The Police continues the search for the alleged aggressor
The National Police has deployed a device to locate the alleged perpetrator, whose identity has not been officially disclosed.
Meanwhile, agents from the Judicial Police continue to gather evidence at the scene to clarify the circumstances of the crime.
Second crime investigated this Wednesday
This murder occurs just a few hours after the one recorded at the Civil Guard barracks in Llanes (Asturias), where an officer died after being shot multiple times and whose death is also being investigated as a possible case of gender violence.
Pending official confirmation from the competent authorities, the crime in Murcia could raise the number of women murdered by gender violence in Spain during 2026.
The investigation remains open and it will be the judicial authority that determines the exact circumstances of the events.
