Asaja Córdoba welcomed this Thursday "the decision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to extend until next June 15 the deadline to process the single application for the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) in Andalusia, a measure that responds to the request conveyed by Asaja, along with the rest of agricultural organizations, given the exceptional situation that the Andalusian countryside is experiencing".
In a statement, the agricultural organization explains that "this extension was absolutely necessary, due to the force majeure situation caused by the persistent rains recorded in recent months, which caused significant damage to agricultural exploitations, rural roads and hydraulic infrastructures, in addition to causing generalized delays in sowings and enormous difficulty in correctly planning many crop declarations".
The employers' association recalls that it had been demanding "administrative flexibility to prevent numerous farmers and ranchers from being harmed by circumstances totally beyond their control", since to "the usual problems involved in processing the CAP was added, furthermore, the overlapping of the management of extraordinary state and regional aid due to storms, which was causing an exceptional workload in cooperatives, agricultural organizations, recognized entities and technical services".
Likewise, the entity highlights that the extension of the deadline "will allow agricultural professionals to have an essential additional margin, to correctly adapt their files to the reality of the exploitations, avoiding errors, incidents and possible penalties derived from a campaign marked by meteorological instability".
Finally, Asaja Córdoba expresses its gratitude because "finally, this demand from the sector has been met", and expresses its confidence that "the administrations will continue to show sensitivity and capacity for reaction to the extraordinary difficulties that the Andalusian countryside is suffering".
