The Minister of the Sea, Marta Villaverde, has formalized a collaboration agreement with the Moaña fishermen's guild with the aim of promoting the recovery of shellfish beds damaged by the storms recorded at the beginning of the year. This action is part of the Extraordinary Plan launched by the Xunta, endowed with almost 23 million euros, to address "the serious damage" suffered by bivalve mollusk populations as a result of adverse weather events.

The agreement has co-financing from the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (Fempa) and has a global budget of 133,679 euros. With these resources, an extensive program of regeneration and conditioning work will be developed in 642,612 square meters distributed among the sandy areas of Xunqueira, Meira, and Domaio and, complementarily, in the O Con area.

As planned, more than 93% of the funds will be directed directly to economic compensation for the professionals participating in the recovery tasks. This ensures the continuity of shellfish farming activities and the social protection of the group while the various actions contemplated in the agreement are carried out.
