Tomelloso celebrated this Sunday the third edition of the Bombo Awards Wine Festival, promoted by the Association of Tasters of Castilla-La Mancha and supported by the City Council. The event is consolidated as a showcase to disseminate the wine culture and agri-food products of Tomelloso and the entire region.
The inaugural event, which took place at Salones Mabel, was attended by the Councilor for Economic Promotion and Tourism, Rocío Valentín, who reiterated the City Council's support for an initiative that enhances some of the city's most outstanding economic and tourist resources.
The councilor emphasized the need to continue disseminating "the much and good" that Tomelloso and Castilla-La Mancha offer, and highlighted the evolution of the festival since its inception, with the incorporation of new categories and the inclusion of agri-food products that enrich the enological offering.
Valentín also underlined the close collaboration between the City Council and the Association of Tasters of Castilla-La Mancha, articulated through the agreement that both parties have maintained since 2025, and which allows for the reinforcement of initiatives aimed at promoting the territory and its most emblematic products. In this regard, she expressed her satisfaction with the excellent public reception, reflected in the good pace of ticket sales in this third edition.
The spokesperson for the municipal government team and provincial deputy, Benjamín de Sebastián, also spoke at the inauguration, emphasizing the strategic relevance of the wine sector for the province's economy and recalling that wine is one of Ciudad Real's main industries. He defended the convenience of continuing to promote activities that disseminate wine culture and support the work of farmers and wineries, alluding to the recent celebration of FENAVIN Match, organized by the Provincial Council.
De Sebastián acknowledged the efforts of the Association of Tasters of Castilla-La Mancha and the Brotherhood of San Isidro in bringing the festival to fruition, and reiterated the commitment of the administrations to initiatives that contribute to boosting one of the province's most important economic engines.
The president of the Association of Tasters of Castilla-La Mancha, Victoria Jiménez, has explained that the Bombo Awards Wine Festival was born with the intention of bringing the Bombo Awards to the public, highlighting the quality of the region's wines, organized by the Brotherhood of San Isidro, a competition closely linked to Tomelloso and the world of wine. The proposal seeks to make visible the quality of the wines distinguished in these awards and promote the knowledge and appreciation of products made in Castilla-La Mancha.
Jiménez has acknowledged that, despite the awards' track record, there is still ample room to increase their reach among the general public, which is why she has defended the usefulness of events like this festival, which bring award-winning wines closer to consumers and professionals and generate meeting spaces for the sector. She has also announced the intention to continue strengthening the presence of the region's agri-food products, with the aim of consolidating the event as a major enogastronomic showcase linked to the Bombo Awards.
Among the attendees was the Director General of European Affairs, Nazareth Rodrigo, who highlighted the importance of the wine sector in Castilla-La Mancha and the commitment of regional institutions to the promotion, modernization, and internationalization of an activity essential to the regional economy.
Also attending the event were the councilors for Social Services and Education, Elena Villahermosa and Antonio Calvo, along with the councilors from the socialist group, Francisco José Barato and Consuelo Perona.
