The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, undertakes this Sunday a ten-day institutional trip to Mexico with an agenda focused on "intensifying" economic and cultural relations between the region and the North American country.
According to the regional government, during these ten days Díaz Ayuso will develop her official agenda in Mexico City, Monterrey, Aguascalientes, and Xcaret Riviera Maya, combining political, economic, academic, and cultural events.
Among the planned activities are four meetings with Mexican businessmen, economic organizations, and investors, in addition to meetings with large international companies in the construction and restaurant sectors, such as CEMEX and Alsea.
In Aguascalientes, the Madrid president will be distinguished in a solemn session with the Medal of Freedom of the Congress of Aguascalientes. In addition, the City Council will present her with the Keys to the city and a specific recognition for her defense of Hispanidad.
During her stay, Díaz Ayuso will also participate in an institutional lunch with the governors of the states of Aguascalientes, Querétaro, Chihuahua, and Guanajuato, as well as in a meeting with the mayor of Cuauhtémoc, within her agenda of political contacts.
The president will also attend academic events with students and teachers from the Universidad de la Libertad and the Tecnológico de Monterrey Institute, in order to strengthen educational ties and talent exchange between Madrid and Mexico.
In Aguascalientes, Díaz Ayuso will attend the celebration of Madrid Day at the Community's stand, set up at the 198th San Marcos National Fair, an annual event dedicated to culture in which the Madrid region is participating as guest of honor.
The institutional agenda also includes his presence at an event honoring the conqueror Hernán Cortés in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Mexico, attendance at the Cinema Latino Awards Gala in Xcaret Riviera Maya, a visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and a meeting with representatives of the 14 regional houses of Spain in Mexico.
This new trip to Mexico, from May 3 to 12, will be Díaz Ayuso's second trip to the country after the one she made in April 2024, and it constitutes her third trip abroad in 2026, after her visits to New York (USA) and Brussels (Belgium).
Mexico is situated, after the United States, as the main American investor in the Community of Madrid, which concentrates 98% of the total investment directed to Spain, with more than 1,000 million euros in 2025.
