Spain has experienced a dark early morning on the roads with two fatal accidents registered in Castellón and Málaga. The provisional toll amounts to seven deaths and several injured, some of them seriously, while the Civil Guard maintains open investigations to clarify the causes of both incidents.
The most serious accident took place on the N-340, near Benicàssim, in the direction of Castellón de la Plana. Several vehicles were involved in the collision, including a taxi, and four people died: three men and one woman. In addition, six other people were seriously injured and were transferred to hospitals in the province.
Four dead in Benicàssim
Emergency services worked for hours in the area of the accident on the N-340, where the impact required the deployment of a large medical and security operation. The injured were evacuated to the General Hospital of Castellón and the Hospital de La Plana, according to published information.
The violence of the collision and the number of vehicles involved made this incident the most serious of the day. For now, the authorities have not detailed the exact causes of the accident, which remain under investigation.
Three dead on the A-7 in Málaga
The second fatal accident occurred in Málaga, on the A-7 highway, near Cerrado de Calderón. Two vehicles collided and one of them ended up falling down a ravine of about 30 meters, according to initial information from emergency services.
The incident left three people dead and also required the mobilization of firefighters, medical personnel, and security forces. The vehicle's fall down the slope complicated intervention and rescue efforts in an area particularly delicate due to its proximity to the road.
Investigation open
In both Castellón and Málaga, the investigation remains open to determine what happened and if factors such as speeding, distractions, lane invasion, road conditions, or any other circumstance could have influenced the accidents.
The early morning leaves a particularly harsh toll in the middle of the travel season, with seven fatalities in just a few hours and several injured who remain under medical attention. Authorities insist on the need to exercise extreme caution while driving, especially during weekends and night journeys, when fatigue and reduced visibility increase the risk on the road.
