This development represents the first official line of investigation into the causes of the fire, which continues to mobilize a significant emergency response due to the rapid spread of the flames, favored by high temperatures, wind, and dry vegetation.
The fire originated in a forest area of Gavà and forced the activation of a large extinction operation, with the intervention of ground and air personnel from the Bombers de la Generalitat. Furthermore, Civil Protection ordered the preventive confinement of thousands of residents of Gavà and other municipalities in Baix Llobregat as a precautionary measure due to the proximity of the fire and the intense presence of smoke.
For the moment, the authorities maintain the investigation open to confirm the exact origin of the fire and determine if there are responsibilities derived from the events, while emergency teams continue to work on the ground and administrations remain attentive to the evolution of the fire.
