The Community of Madrid will apply from next Monday the 15th a new limitation on the issuance of the Personal Public Transport Card (TTP), which can only be obtained by people registered in municipalities of the region and in certain towns in Castilla-La Mancha and Castilla y León.
This is stated in a recent announcement by the Regional Consortium of Public Regular Transport of Madrid (CRTM), which details the new residency requirements for obtaining the Personal Public Transport Card (TTP-personal). These instructions were published this Friday in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid (BOCM).
The modification, which will begin to be applied on the 15th, refers to the issuance of TTP-personales, "both new ones and their duplicates." The regional government has specified to Europa Press that the measure will not have retroactive effects.
The TTP is a non-transferable medium —it includes the name, an identification number, and the holder's photograph— intended for all users and which constitutes the usual modality for those over 7 years of age.
These cards are necessary to load titles associated with a specific person, such as 30-day passes, and to access discounts linked to age, large family status, or disability. In addition, they also allow the incorporation of non-personal titles.
With the new regulation that comes into force on Monday, the issuance of the TTP will be conditioned on proving residence in a municipality of the Community of Madrid or in one of the municipalities included in tariff zones E1 and E2, as well as in those expressly included in the current agreement with Castilla-La Mancha.
Regarding Castilla y León, the Consortium that coordinates the Madrid transport network specifies that the TTP can be issued to residents in the municipalities covered by the agreements currently signed with that autonomous community. The complete list of included towns can be consulted on the institutional website of the Regional Transport Consortium of Madrid (https://www.crtm.es/).
According to the information provided by the regional government, residence must be justified by a valid registration certificate that proves the applicant's address in one of the admitted municipalities. The interested person will have to present it or authorize it to be verified electronically, as appropriate.
Exceptionally, "for technological reasons and as long as it is strictly necessary to guarantee the correct application of the legally recognized benefits for large families," the issuance of the Personal Public Transport Card will continue to be permitted to those who are holders of an official large family title.
