The Govern balear has shown its satisfaction after the Tribunal Supremo has rendered ineffective the single state registry of short-term rentals, understanding that the central Government does not have powers to impose this type of regulation.

"Chronicle of an announced annulment that we had been denouncing for a long time. Wanting to centralize powers that are autonomous only generates insecurity, bureaucracy, and failures. The Supremo puts things in their place," said the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Jaume Bauzá, in a message published on his profile on the social network X.

The high court considers that the norm configured an exhaustive regulation of a national scope registry that "overlaps with the existing autonomous registries with respect to the registration of properties intended for tourist rentals."

In this way, the Supremo partially upholds the appeal promoted by the Generalitat Valenciana and leaves without effect only the articles of Royal Decree 1312/2024, of December 23, that provided coverage for the creation of said registry.

However, the court maintains in force the parts of the decree related to the digital single window, as well as the obligations of information submission by online platforms and the exchange of data for statistical purposes.
