The Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, has highlighted this Wednesday the work carried out by Teresa Parejo at the head of the Directorate General for Industrial Strategy and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, and has underlined the "deep knowledge" of the sector brought by her replacement in the position, Miguel Gómez-Pavón López, appointed yesterday by the Council of Ministers.

In a press conference, and in response to journalists' questions, Hereu stated that this change "has no major significance," downplaying references made about Gómez-Pavón's political affiliation. "He has a deep knowledge of the industry and is a great professional, therefore it is a purely technical replacement," he added.

The head of Industry recalled that Gómez-Pavón "was the previous deputy director of Strategy who has replaced the director general, therefore he is part of an absolutely normal replacement led by the Secretary of State for Industry and has no major significance."

Hereu also wanted to highlight the career of the until now director general of Industrial Strategy, whom he defined as "a magnificent professional" and a specialist in sustainability. "I want to reaffirm the deep gratitude for this year of work by Teresa Parejo and the full guarantee of the person who replaces her," he emphasized.

Finally, the minister stressed that "the Industry team of the Ministry, like the Tourism team, is led by two Secretaries of State who are deep experts in both fields and I would like to highlight the great professionalism of the entire team."
