IAG Cargo has announced the launch of two new air cargo connections: one between Madrid and Monterrey (Mexico) and another between Barcelona and Lima (Peru). Both routes will begin operating in June with three weekly frequencies each, which will allow for the intensification of its commercial ties with the American continent, as the company detailed in a statement.
In the case of the route to Monterrey, the service will debut on June 2, becoming the first direct connection between Spain and northern Mexico. For IAG's cargo division, Monterrey is configured as "an important manufacturing hub," with "powerful" automotive, aerospace, and technology industries that generate a notable flow of goods.
For its part, the new operation between Barcelona and Lima will start one day later, on June 3, with the aim of boosting trade with Peru. This connection will be especially oriented towards the transport of perishable products, pharmaceuticals, and other high-value-added goods.
Both routes are incorporated into IAG Cargo's summer program, which includes a total of 275 weekly links operated with wide-body aircraft from its hubs in Spain to North America, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
The company articulates its global network through its operations centers in London, Madrid, Dublin, and Barcelona, which offer connections to six continents. The British capital concentrates more than 700 weekly wide-body flights, while Dublin Airport adds nearly 100 rotations per week.
