Iberdrola and Gonvarri Industries have reinforced the electrification of European industry by signing a 10-year renewable energy purchase agreement ('Power Purchase Agreement' or PPA), which contemplates the annual supply of 26,000 MWh of electricity.

The agreement applies to eight production centers of Gonvarri Industries spread across four European countries and includes the acquisition of guarantees of origin corresponding to 100% of the electricity consumption of these plants.

The contracted energy comes 80% from wind farms and 20% from solar photovoltaic installations, all with guarantees of origin, and is based on an installed capacity of 15 MW from Iberdrola, as detailed by both companies in a joint statement.

With this PPA, Gonvarri Industries reinforces its commitment to electrification and the use of renewable energy in its European operations, ensuring a stable and competitive supply that drives energy efficiency and contributes to reducing the group's carbon footprint.

For Iberdrola, the operation consolidates its role as a benchmark energy partner for European industry and expands its portfolio of long-term supply contracts.

The CEO of Gonvarri Industries, Josu Calvo, has emphasized that this agreement represents a "significant" step forward in the group's sustainability strategy, allowing it to drive the electrification of its production processes with renewable energy and advance in the decarbonization of its industrial activity.

"With alliances like this, we contribute to the stability and competitiveness of industry, by providing long-term certainty about a sustainable and secure energy supply. PPAs are a key instrument for reinforcing investment and productive activity and advancing the electrification of the economy," highlighted, for his part, the director of the Customer Business of Iberdrola Spain, David Martínez.
