The price of gasoline today, Tuesday, August 4, 2026, maintains the trend of stability of the last few days, although diesel is slightly becoming more expensive again. Fuels continue at high levels after the increases recorded during July and the cut in the state subsidy for fuel, which continues to directly impact the wallets of millions of drivers.
According to the latest available data, unleaded gasoline 95 reaches an average price of 1.729 euros per liter, while gasoline 98 stands at 1.914 euros and diesel A rises to 1.850 euros per liter.
What is the price of gasoline today?
The average price of fuels barely experiences variations compared to the previous day. Gasoline 95 rises by a thousandth and continues below 1.73 euros per liter, while gasoline 98 records a slight decrease of two thousandths. For its part, diesel A becomes more expensive again and maintains the upward trend that began in recent weeks.
Although the variations are minimal, prices remain clearly above those recorded at the beginning of summer, when the cost per liter was significantly lower.
How much does it cost to fill a tank?
The impact of these prices is especially noticeable when refueling a full tank. In a vehicle with a 55-liter tank, filling the tank with gasoline 95 involves an approximate outlay of 95.10 euros.
In the case of vehicles that use gasoline 98, the cost rises to 105.27 euros, while those using diesel A will have to pay around 101.75 euros to fill a tank of the same capacity.
These amounts continue to be higher than those recorded during much of the first half of the year.
Why is gasoline still so expensive?
The price of fuels continues to be conditioned by several factors that directly affect the energy market.
Among them, the evolution of the international price of oil, the quotation of refined products, the behavior of the euro against the dollar, and the tax burden that fuels bear stand out. In addition, there is the recent reduction of state aid for fuel, which since August 1 has decreased from 15 to 10 cents per liter, increasing the final price that consumers pay.
All of this explains that, despite the stability recorded in recent days, the price of gasoline and diesel remains well above the levels observed just a few weeks ago.
