Teldat, a Spanish company specializing in network and cybersecurity solutions, has been chosen by Talgo to secure the internal communications of the new high-speed trains that the railway manufacturer is building for the German operator FlixTrain, as the company detailed this Tuesday in a statement.
The firm has explained that it will supply technological equipment that will function as "digital firewalls" and as managers of data traffic on board the trains.
Its mission will be to supervise, control, and protect the exchange of information between the different onboard systems, blocking "unauthorized" access and minimizing the probability of cybersecurity incidents.
Each train set, equipped with Teldat's 'H5 Rail' solution, will integrate two devices installed in different carriages, so that if one stops operating, the other will automatically take over without affecting the internal network's operation.
This supply is part of one of the most relevant railway contracts recently awarded in Europe, which contemplates an initial phase of 30 high-speed trains, with the possibility of extending the order up to an additional 65 units.
The CEO of Teldat, Antonio García Romero, has emphasized that this project demonstrates that Europe "has the capacity to protect and manage critical communications in sectors as demanding as the railway industry."
