The Fundación Laboral de la Construcción (FLC) closed 2025 with the training of 124,435 professionals, representing an increase of 12.9% compared to the previous year, according to data collected in its latest Activity Report "You are what you Build", presented by the Board of Trustees of this parity entity.
The institution, made up of the National Confederation of Construction (CNC), CCOO del Hábitat, and the Federation of Industry, Construction, and Agriculture of UGT (UGT FICA), also experienced an advance of 5.7% in the volume of training hours provided, reaching 4,555,245, and a rebound of 9.5% in the number of courses developed, which totaled 13,419 throughout the year.
As detailed by the foundation, the typical student in 2025 was predominantly male (90.5%), aged between 46 and 55 years (23.3%), compared to 25.7% registered in the previous year, and with an employment status of active or employed (70%). Nevertheless, the document highlights the progress of the 16 to 25-year-old youth group, which now accounts for 22.1% of the total trained individuals.
The percentage of foreign individuals who attended FLC's classrooms stood at 41.1%, above the 33.3% of the previous year. The report further specifies that a large portion of this international student body comes from African countries, followed by Latin American states.
In this regard, the report emphasizes that joining the construction sector implies being "a protagonist in an environment of constant transformation, demanding qualified professionals who can improve the competitiveness of companies, capable of applying updated knowledge adapted to the needs of each project".
Predominance of Occupational Risk Prevention and In-Person Training
Regarding the most in-demand training areas, occupational risk prevention (PRL) accounted for 70.5% of the students, with 87,685 workers. This was followed by specialization courses in trades and professions, which gathered 26% of the participants (32,405 people), while transversal management subjects brought together 3.5% (4,345 students). In-person training remained the majority option, chosen by 89% of those who underwent training.
In the field of regulated Vocational Training, 642 people (+12.2%) took one of the 54 training cycles offered by the FLC, which allowed 294,716 hours of training to be delivered, an increase of 9.1% compared to 2024, according to data provided by the entity.
Safety, Health, and On-Site Advice
In terms of occupational safety and health, the Joint Body for Prevention in Construction (OPPC) carried out 18,905 preventive advisory visits on construction sites during 2025, 12.6% more than the previous year. These actions were supplemented by specific visits funded by the autonomous communities of La Rioja (517), Cantabria (100), and Aragón (82).
The OPPC also organized 35 awareness-raising workshops in different areas of the country, with the attendance of 819 professionals. In the educational field, 53 safety awareness sessions were held in 19 centers, with the participation of 1,085 people.
Digital Boost: LineaPrevencion.com and Construyendoempleo.com
The specialized portal LineaPrevencion.com registered 162,176 users throughout 2025 and its technical videos reached 302,088 views, with content on electrical welding risks being the most consulted. For its part, the free telephone advice service on prevention responded to 9,600 queries.
In the labor field, the platform Construyendoempleo.com, available both on the web and as a mobile application, published 9,726 job offers, representing an increase of 19.8% compared to the previous year. The number of registered candidates rose to 5,311 (+6.9%) and the number of registered companies to 1,107 (+2.8%). The total number of applications for vacancies reached 28,252, with the profiles of bricklayer, laborer, and site manager being the most in-demand by companies.
The foundation highlights that the proportion of professionals over 45 years of age registered in this employment pool decreased from 66.7% in 2024 to 34.0% in 2025. In parallel, the personalized employment pathways offered by the entity assisted 32,711 people, achieving the direct placement of 1,168 professionals in the sector.
Integration Programs and First Sectoral Guidance Chatbot
Through its Employment Agency, present in 32 training centers spread across Spain, the FLC assisted nearly 7,000 people through initiatives such as the "Building Employment Program", the "Foundations for Employment 2030" project, or "+Youth Employment", the latter developed in collaboration with the "la Caixa" Foundation.
The entity also notes as an "innovative milestone" the launch, at the end of 2025, of the sector's first Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based guidance 'chatbot', hosted on the website generacioncambio.com, whose objective is to offer agile information on job opportunities and serve as support for placement agencies and companies.
Participation in European digitalization and sustainability projects
Finally, the Labor Foundation's Report highlights its active participation in 14 European projects linked to digitalization and sustainability, assuming leadership in three of them. These initiatives have involved 120 institutions from 30 countries, within the framework of programs such as Construction Blueprint2, Construye 2030plus, or Women Can Build LatAm.
