The Ibex 35 has started the stock market session this Tuesday with a slight increase of 0.09%, a sufficient advance to surpass for the first time the symbolic barrier of 20,000 points.
Moments after the bell rang, the Madrid stock exchange intensified purchases up to 0.27%, comfortably consolidating at 20,036.9 points.
The main Spanish index had already concluded Monday's session at a new historical maximum, after gaining 1.01% and closing at 19,982.6 points, despite ongoing doubts in the geopolitical arena.
During this Tuesday's session, investors will continue to pay attention to the situation in the Middle East, after U.S. President Donald Trump suggested yesterday that the Strait of Hormuz could reopen today, after announcing contacts with Iranian authorities to try to end the conflict that began at the end of February, something that has already been dismissed from Tehran.
The occupant of the White House pointed out in statements to the press that the opening of the mentioned passage could take place "literally" today and when asked about the outcome of those supposed contacts with the Asian country, he said that "it will be resolved quickly, whatever the outcome."
In this scenario, the price of Brent crude oil, a reference for Europe, was at $84.73 after advancing 1.15%, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude, a reference in the United States, was trading at $80.75, with an increase of 0.51%.
In the Spanish corporate sphere, Tussen de Grachten BV has successfully completed, through an accelerated 'bookbuilding' process, the placement of approximately 1.65 million shares of Acciona —equivalent to 3% of its capital— at €217.9 per share, for an amount close to €359 million and with a discount of 5.7% compared to Monday's close (€231.2).
Thus, the Netherlands-based company through which the Entrecanales Franco branch has reduced its stake in Acciona from 29.02% to 26% now matches the controlling position of Wit Europese Investering (WEI), the vehicle through which the other branch of the family, the Entrecanales Domecq, holds another 26% of the shareholding.
In the first minutes of trading on the Madrid Stock Exchange, the largest advances within the Ibex 35 corresponded to Sacyr, which rose 1.6%, and ACS, which gained 1.45%.
On the opposite side, the sharpest declines at the start of the session were those of Acciona (-6.83%), Telefónica (-0.63%), and Acciona Energía (-0.56%).
At the same time, the main European markets were moving in positive territory in the early stages of the day, with advances in Milan (0.65%), Frankfurt (0.58%), Paris (0.55%), and London (0.36%).
In the debt market, the yield on the Spanish 10-year bond rose to 3.584%.
In the foreign exchange market, the euro gained ground against the dollar, reaching an exchange rate of 1.1506 dollars in the markets.
