The Parador La Muralla in Ceuta continues its renovation plan with various actions aimed at updating the hotel and enhancing its historical surroundings in view of the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The project involves a global investment of close to six million euros, contributed equally by Paradores and Turespaña.
The president of the public chain, Raquel Sánchez, detailed this Tuesday in a meeting with the Government delegate in Ceuta, Miguel Ángel Pérez, the works already carried out and those still in execution in the establishment, according to a statement.
Since 2025, Paradores has been undertaking fundamental interventions in the building with an investment of three million euros. Among them, the installation of an aerothermal system on the roof for the production of domestic hot water (DHW) and the reinforcement of the air conditioning in lounges, cafeteria, and dining room through a new heat pump stand out.
The complete redecoration of the Parador has also been carried out to give it a more contemporary aesthetic "without losing its identity, highlighting its Andalusian architecture and decoration."
Currently, renovation works are progressing on the swimming pool changing rooms and the restrooms of the Salón de la Torre. Subsequently, other improvements will be addressed in the main building, such as the replacement of pipes and the renovation of pavements in different common areas, among other planned actions.
According to Sánchez, all these improvements seek to ensure that the Parador de Ceuta is in "the best possible conditions" for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. In her opinion, this event represents an exceptional opportunity to boost the city's international projection and accelerate its economic transformation.
For his part, Pérez stressed that "these investments reflect the high level of compliance with the tourism actions contemplated in the Comprehensive Development Plan for Ceuta.
After a 2025 with an occupancy rate of 76%, five points above 2024, and with a predominance of national visitors but an interannual rebound of 11.32% in foreign tourists, the Parador reached 82% occupancy in the first half, 15 points more than in the same period of the previous year.
Turespaña's investment in the wall and its surroundings
In parallel, Turespaña has carried out a specific heritage recovery intervention in the historical complex where the establishment is located, with an investment exceeding three million euros from European funds from the NextGeneration Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
These works have included cleaning and restoration of stone elements and actions on the southern section of the wall's roof, specifically on the Baluarte de la Coraza Alta, on the upper cavalier and its interior casemate; in addition to their enhancement through public access to these spaces and the improvement of monumental lighting.
Likewise, archaeological investigations were carried out in the interior and exterior of the casemate. The works began in September 2024, concluded last month, and had the authorization of Ceuta's Cultural Heritage.
