The Spanish engineering company Sainsel, specialized in defense, surveillance, and security solutions, is carrying out the development of the Combat Management System (CMS) for the new Oceanic Coastal Patrol Vessel (POC) of the Colombian Navy, with the expectation that it will be integrated into the ship by the end of this year.
According to the press release issued this Thursday, a delegation from the Colombian Navy and the Corporation of Science and Technology for the Development of the Maritime and River Naval Industry (Cotecmar) has traveled to Sainsel's facilities in Madrid to participate in the factory acceptance tests of the CMS.
This combat management system constitutes the central element that integrates, coordinates, and manages all sensors, weapon systems, communications, and resources of a naval platform. Thanks to its ability to collect, merge, and process information from multiple sources in real-time, it offers operators a global tactical picture of the maritime environment.
The Colombian delegation was received by the president of Sainsel, Susana Hernández; the Operations Director, Ángel Cárceles; the Strategy and Business Development Director, Santiago de Andrés; and the Programs Manager, Pilar Olmo.
The company has emphasized that this is the second contract that Sainsel develops for the Colombian Navy, after having supplied the Integrated Navigation Bridge (IBS) of this same patrol vessel, a solution that concentrates all navigation and control systems on the bridge.
In this regard, Hernández has highlighted the "fruitful and ongoing collaboration" with both institutions and the client's satisfaction with the already delivered IBS.
"Projects like this that we are successfully developing for Colombia place Sainsel within the select group of international companies capable of designing, producing, and integrating a CMS on a vessel of such magnitude," the president of the defense firm has elaborated.
