The national leadership of Vox has made it clear that it will not facilitate the investiture of the Andalusian president, Juanma Moreno, through an abstention if the Popular Party falls short of an absolute majority in the Andalusian elections.

In no case”, has responded emphatically the national spokesperson for Vox, José Antonio Fúster, when asked about the possibility that his party would allow the PP to govern without entering into a formal negotiation.

Vox wants to negotiate if the PP needs its votes

During a press conference held this Monday in Madrid, Fúster assured that Vox wishes Moreno does not manage to govern alone in order to condition the future Andalusian Executive.

I hope they are five or ten seats short”, stated the leader, who pointed out that, if that scenario is confirmed, his party will negotiate with the PP in Andalusia in the same way it has already done in communities such as Extremadura and Aragon.

The spokesperson insisted that the basis of any agreement will be the so-called national priority, the political framework that Vox has agreed upon with the popular party in other territories.

“There will be no problem in reaching an agreement”

Despite ruling out a free abstention, Fúster wanted to convey a message of willingness to reach an understanding with Moreno.

There will be no problem reaching an agreement with Juanma Moreno in the future,” he assured.

With these words, Vox makes it clear that it is willing to facilitate a PP government, but only in exchange for political negotiation and concrete commitments.

Polls give advantage to PP

Most of the polls published before the elections indicate that Juanma Moreno could revalidate the absolute majority obtained in 2022, which would allow the PP to govern without depending on other parties.

However, from Vox they prefer to maintain caution. Fúster has recognized that the popular leader “may have the absolute within his reach,” although he has defended that the polls reflect a moderate growth of his party compared to the “artificial” expectations that, he said, were generated in previous electoral processes.

The verdict, on May 17

“The verdict will be on May 17,” summarized the national spokesperson, avoiding making predictions about the outcome that the candidacy headed by Manuel Gavira will obtain.

Vox has also confirmed that its president, Santiago Abascal, will participate in the campaign closing event this Friday in Seville to support Manuel Gavira.

Alongside Abascal will be the regional vice presidents of Extremadura and Aragon, Óscar Fernández and Alejandro Nolasco, in an event with which the party will seek to mobilize its electorate in the final days before the appointment with the polls.
