Adamuz, the Cordoban municipality hit by the railway accident that shocked Andalusia at the beginning of the year, has given a resounding endorsement to the Partido Popular in the regional elections, in which the memory of that tragedy also crept into the electoral campaign. The municipality went to the polls with the symbolic weight of having been the scene of one of the hardest episodes of early 2026, and the result has left a resounding victory for the popular party.
The triumph in Adamuz also comes on a night when Juanma Moreno once again clearly prevailed in Andalusia, although without reaching an absolute majority. The PP fell two seats short of that barrier and will now face a legislature in which, despite its electoral strength, it will need to negotiate with Vox to guarantee parliamentary stability and push through major government initiatives.
Results in Adamuz
The results in Adamuz reflect a clear dominance of the PP. The popular party obtained 1,272 votes (53.64%), far ahead of the PSOE, which received 592 ballots (24.96%). Behind them were Por Andalucía, with 172 votes, and Vox, with 157 supports (6.62%).
The comparison with the previous Andalusian elections reinforces this trend. In 2022, the PP had already been the most voted party in the municipality, with 1,028 votes, compared to the PSOE's 682. At that time, Vox had achieved 210 votes, while Por Andalucía obtained 144.
Adamuz thus confirms the consolidation of the electoral shift experienced in recent years in a municipality with strong symbolic weight in this campaign.
Feijóo celebrates Moreno's victory
The Andalusian victory has been quickly claimed by the national leadership of the PP. Alberto Núñez Feijóo telephoned Juanma Moreno to personally convey his congratulations for the result obtained at the polls.
The popular leader described the result as an "incontestable victory" and argued that the support received by Moreno shows that "good politics" obtains a majority support at the polls.
Feijóo also focused on the setback of the Andalusian PSOE, led by María Jesús Montero, which obtained 28 seats, below the 30 obtained by Juan Espadas in the previous regional elections.
In his public message, the president of the PP also maintained that this result means the closure of a negative electoral cycle for socialism. After the result was known, the national leadership of the PP confirmed contact between Feijóo and Moreno, while the party has called for a meeting of its National Executive Committee this Monday to analyze in detail the scenario opened after the Andalusian elections.
Moreno's victory thus consolidates the territorial leadership of the PP, although the final result leaves pending the negotiation for the governability of Andalusia in the new legislature.
