The different groups with representation in the Parliament of Navarre are finalizing their proposed conclusions on the investigation committee regarding the awarding of public works these days, with the aim of registering them before the deadline expires this Wednesday. Once presented, they are scheduled to be discussed and put to a vote within the committee itself on June 10.
The spokesperson for UPN, Javier Esparza, explained that his party is still finalizing its conclusions document, stating that the work "is not yet finished, although very advanced, but there are things that have been detected, for example, that María Chivite finds it normal for her Government to award 76 million euros to a joint venture that is being investigated for an alleged corruption scheme involving the company of Santos Cerdán - former PSOE Organization Secretary -". In his opinion, "Is that a coincidence?, I ask myself. Investigation committees are for determining political responsibilities," he remarked, subsequently emphasizing that "when you are caught with the ice cream cart, go home, change government, and clean up the party."
From the PSN, parliamentarian Ainhoa Unzu defended that "if anything has been proven, it is that there has been no corruption" in the process of awarding the Belate works. She recalled that "all the technicians on the board who have appeared, anyone who has worked in that area, has said that there is none," also insisting that "no one received any kind of political instruction at any time, they have denied political interference."
The spokesperson for EH Bildu, Laura Aznal, stated that her group is focused on the final phase of the committee, working "very intensely" on the preparation of the final text. She highlighted that "I know that it is a very broad, very extensive work, that they are dedicating a lot of time to it and we are going to present it in a matter of days."
On behalf of Geroa Bai, Pablo Azcona has maintained that "we do not see that a conclusion is that there has been corruption in the Belate work with the information we have worked on in the investigation committee itself". He explained that "we have been seeing the vicissitudes of the execution of the work, for example, with the modification and also the response that was given in that case also by Geroa Bai when we saw that the modification did not conform to the requirements in this case of the General Audit", to emphasize that "it cannot be affirmed as a conclusion that it has been verified that there has been corruption".
For her part, the PPN parliamentarian Irene Royo has stressed that "whether there is corruption or not, that is for the judges to determine". Even so, she has pointed out that "what we see is that there are sufficient indications for it not to be said that there has been no corruption", and has added that "at the contracting table for the Belate tunnels there was something very clear, not enough guarantees were kept so that the scoring could not be manipulated and that continuously invalidates that award resolution". In her opinion, "it has not been proven that there was no manipulation".
The spokesperson for Contigo-Zurekin, Carlos Guzmán, has commented that his group has its conclusions report practically finalized and that, once completed, they will make it public. He explained that, for now, they prefer to "maintain a little bit of prudence" before detailing its content. He recalled that "they have been long months of hard work and with the presentation of these conclusions we also want to send a message of forcefulness to all the Navarrese citizens, we were the ones who demanded the creation of that investigation committee, we had to exercise transparency".
